I am a complete beginner to the Flex language and David Gassner compiled a perfect balance of PowerPoint presentations and code samples to help get me up and running. He is a very good speaker and easy to understand. I just ordered the ‘Beyond the Basics’ CD-ROM to build off of the knowledge that I gained from this one. I would recommend this to every beginner. Anyone with prior knowledge should probably go into the next one right away. He uses a ColdFusion web service, while I am ASP.NET/VB.NET primarily, but the examples flow just as smoothly. I am hoping the next one will use function calls more extensively and more ActionScript3. But overall worth the money for beginners, middle to advanced, get the next one.
